SCOTT FIELDING is the director of Michael Chekhov Actors Studio Boston and leads The Chekhov Training, The Meisner Foundation Training, and The Professional Acting Programs.
His twenty-five years’ experience with Chekhov method as director, teacher and actor is complemented by his expertise in Meisner technique and Stanislavsky’s system.
Before coming to Boston in 2010, Scott lived for several years in Southeastern Europe, directing and teaching extensively throughout the Balkans. He taught master classes and workshops throughout the former Yugoslavia including Sarajevo (Bosnia), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Zagreb (Croatia), Belgrade (Serbia), and Mostar (Herzegovina), as well as in England, Switzerland, Germany, and Brazil. In Croatia, he was an appointed guest professor at the Academies of Dramatic Art in Zagreb and Osijek.
In the U.S., Scott teaches on the faculty of the Michael Chekhov Association (MICHA) and Boston’s Emerson College. He is the former artistic director of Alchymia Theatre in Chicago and, in New York, a member of The Actors’ Ensemble.
An internationally active stage director, his recent stage productions include John Cage: A House Full of Music (Belgrade); A.P. Chekhov’s (His) 3 Sisters (Mostar Youth Theatre, Bosnia and Herzegovina); Koltes’, In the Solitude of Cotton Fields (Belgrade) and Night Just Before the Forests (KUD, Ljubljana); Irene Fornes’, Mud (Zagreb Theatre for Youth, Croatia); St. Vincent Millay’s, Aria Da Capo (Slovenia); Sara Kane’s, 4.48 Psychosis (Academy of Dramatic Art Zagreb); and in collaboration with Slovenian director Tomi Janežić, King Lear (Atelier 212, Belgrade) and The Blind (Macedonian National Theatre, Skopje).
U.S. productions include works by Ibsen, Garcia Lorca, Gertrude Stein, Mrozek, Robert Frost, and Günter Grass. For The Actors’ Ensemble, he directed works by Tina Howe, Henry Miller, W.B. Yeats, Ray Bradbury, and at the invitation of Buddhist monk and writer Thich Nhat Hahn, the U.S. premiere of Nhat Hahn’s, The Path of Return Continues the Journey.
Scott’s acting credits include off-Broadway, as well as theatre in Los Angeles and Chicago.
